We have had some exciting things happen over the last month!
One of our awesome Collaborative Facilitators and Attorney, Angie Buchanan, was interviewed by a state-wide NPR and Colorado Public Radio affiliate KDNK! This interview perfectly explains Collaborative Family Law, what it’s all about, and why you should use this process to resolve your family law issues.
“We’re actually focused on solving the collective needs of the family. When you think about a traditional divorce case, the attorney essentially is saying ‘I have to do what’s in the best interests of my client.’ The paradigm shift is we’re going to keep your interests in the forefront, but what’s more important than that is, ‘how do we solve the collective needs and the goals?’ Which spills over into the family and to the kids, because the kids are usually the ones that get impacted the most. The team is focused on a dignified way to reach resolution, where we’re sensitive and focused on solving the collective needs of the spouses, which ultimately serves the children much better.”
Collaborative Family Law is a much better way to resolve issues in a private, dignified way, which Angie and others explain so eloquently in the interview.
In addition, our professionals decided on a change of name. We feel that Southwest Colorado Collaborative Law Professionals more accurately describes our group, and we’re hoping it’s easier to locate a collaborative professional under the new name.
